NSN is the abbreviation of National Stock Number, the successor of the FSN. Outside the US it is also referred to as Nato Stock Number.
The first part is the 4-digit FSCG The second part is the 9-digit NIIN, indicating the country of origin (of final manufacture)and item, the first 2 digits of the NIIN being the CC (country code), for example 00 and 01 for the US and the second 7 digits of the NIIN being the item number.
