Antenna Equipment RC-292 is an elevated, wide-band, modified ground-plane antenna designed to increase the distance range of radio sets in 30 to 76 mHz range.

The RC-292 can be used with the following typical radio sets:

  1. Radio Sets AN/VRC-12, AN/VRC-43 through AN/VRC-49 (TM l1 5820-401-12).
  2. Radio Sets AN/VRC-53, AN/VRC-64, AN/GRC-125, and AN/GRC-160 (TM 11-5820- 498-12).
  3. Radio Sets AN/PRC-25 (TM 11-5820- 398-12) and AN/PRC-77 (TM 11-5820-667-12).

Technical Characteristics

Frequency range
20 to 76 mHz
Distance range between radio sets
Between two RC-292s:

Difficult terrain - 30 miles
Between RC-292 and vehicular whip antenna:
Average terrain - 25 miles
Difficult terrain - 20 miles
Distance range between AN/PRC radio sets
Between two RC-292s - 12 miles
Between RC-292 and AN/PRC whip antenna - 8 miles
Antenna erection time (two men)
15 minutes
Height (to tip of top element)
41 1/2 feet maximum (20 to 28 mc range).
37 feet minimum (52 to 76 mc range).
Input impedance
50 ohms.
Type of radiation pattern
Nondirectional.

Element Arrangement for Frequencies

This antenna requires the use of several elements arranged manually to provide coverage on the required frequency.
