The AN/TRC-170 is a air or ground transportable Troposheric (TROPO Scatter Microwave Radio Terminal. The AN/TRC-170 is used for many years, though in different versions. According to a Marines' publication it was still used in May 2017 and proved to be very reliable and much cheaper than a satellite-connection!
