In order to repair and maintain ordnance material in the field, the service sections of medium and heavy maintenance companies were equipped with welding trucks. Medium maintenance companies had one in addition to the M16A1 and M16A2 Machine Shop Truck and the M13 Tool-and-Bench Truck.
